Lasten Lysti invites all families in Jyväskylä to celebrate its 10th anniversary

The Lasten Lysti autumn season, a series of cultural events for children and their families, kicks off in August with the Birthday Picnic in Lounaispuisto Park and ends with the New Year’s celebrations in Paraatiaukio at Kirkkopuisto Park. Throughout the season, children and families can enjoy a full programme of music, dance, theatre and events and much more. To mark the 10th anniversary, the City of Jyväskylä cultural services are organising a record number of events for families, which are free but require registration. Some of the events are already fully booked.

The Lasten Lysti 10th anniversary party at Lounaispuisto on 16 August

The biggest birthday party in town will take place at Lounaispuisto Park on Thursday 16 Au-gust: the free family picnic is a celebration of the ten successful years of Lasten Lysti. The party starts at 5 p.m. with a programme worthy of a 10th anniversary and culminates in the concert from the children’s music band Orffit at 6 p.m. Bring your own picnic or support the Jyväskylä Blue Diamonds Figure Skating Club and purchase your food from the buffet. The event also features TaidePiiLO, Taika-Petteri and Jakke Jääkarhu, the Bunny and Chick from Off/Balance dance group’s Mato-lainen dance work, Mannerheim League for Child Welfare Jyväskylä, dancers from SkillD Company and Santtu the Elf with his friends.

Birthday bash at Paviljonki 1 September

The official Lasten Lysti 10th birthday party will be held at Paviljonki on 1 September. The programme includes loads of fun activities for kids: they can test their skills on the Jyväskylä Parkour Academy and Circus School’s trail run and do crafts in the TaidepiiLO art marquee. The party ends with the 30th artist anniversary concert of Satu Sopanen and Tuttiorkesteri. The party is hosted by the Jyväskylän Paviljonki and Keskimaa co-operative.

The autumn will also see the relaunch of the Glow Disco with a new concept. The Flowers of Life collective will create a magical setting for the disco on 29 September in Hall A at Pa-viljonki, which will be full of fun things to do: music, dance, games and glowing UV lights. The event welcomes all 10-year-olds in Jyväskylä as special guests of honour to celebrate everyone’s 10th birthday with Lasten Lysti. The Glow Disco is organised jointly with the City of Light event.

Dodo the Clown and VauvaTUUTTI bring light to the winter months

The Lasten Lysti Concert continues the national Red Nose Day celebrations on Saturday 10 November at the University of Jyväskylä Festival Hall featuring Dodo the Clown and chil-dren’s orchestra Loiskis. Before the concert, you can meet local organisations involved in the Red Nose Day in Jyväskylä.

VauvaTUUTTi is an event for toddlers held in the lobby of the Jyväskylä City Theatre on 2 December. The event offers toddlers and their parents the chance to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of colours, shapes, sounds, fairytales and movement. The event is hosted by TaidePiiLO, Jyväskylä City Theatre and City of Jyväskylä Cultural Services.

We recommended that you book or purchase your tickets well in advance as places are lim-ited. Free events require advance booking. Full Lasten Lysti autumn programme and infor-mation about tickets, where to purchase them and how to book:
