Classical evergreens, pieces from different musical periods and new Finnish music
Sinfonia Finlandia Jyväskylä’s autumn season’s concerts form a balanced ensemble, because besides the classical evergreens, orchestra performs some less known, yet elegant pieces from different musical periods. Concert repertoire includes also new Finnish music. The special character and combining factor of the concert repertoire is that it brings out talented Finnish artists that have succeeded also internationally, for example clarinetist Kari Kriikku and composer Pekka Kostiainen.
The season includes some very unique and exceptional concerts. For example, Sinfonia Finlandia Jyväskylä joins together with Joensuu City Orchestra in the season’s second concert. These two orchestras perform Gustav Holst´s most popular and played piece The Planets, that got it’s inspiration from the seven planets of the universe. Another special concert is in November, when a dance artist and a choreographer Virpi Pahkinen stages as a soloist.
