Earth Hour - support for action on climate change
City of Jyväskylä participates in Earth Hour 28.3
Earth Hour is a global WWF-led climate change initiative. More than 70 countries and 600 cities have pledged their support to Earth Hour 2009 campaign. One of the participants is the City of Jyväskylä. Saturday the 28th of March 2009 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm individuals, businesses and governments all over the world will turn out their lights for one hour to show their support for action on climate change.
City of Jyväskylä will turn off the façade lighting from the Vesilinna tower and the Bridge of Kuokkala. Some of the most recognisable landmarks on the planet extinguish their lights in support of decisive action on global warming, such as Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and Rome’s Colosseum.
The campaign invites people to show their support for action on climate change. The action of turning off the lights for one hour is symbolic. The larger aim is to mobilise people to act together to fight climate change. Sign up and participate the Earth Hour 2009 campaign: www.earthhour.org.
Earth Hour is a global message of hope and action. Show your concern, join the world for Earth Hour!
